Four seasons, two products
Azerbaijan sells as two distinct products on one visa: Baku's city-break energy (Old City, Flame Towers, Caspian promenade, Gobustan day trips) and the Caucasus mountain belt (Gabala, Shahdag) for cool-summer escapes and winter skiing. May–June and September–October are prime for the city; July–August flips demand to the mountains; December–March opens the ski product.

Booking windows
- Gulf summer (Jul–Aug): 4–6 weeks ahead — Gabala's quality hotel stock is limited and sells through.
- Spring/autumn city breaks: 2–3 weeks is normally sufficient outside events.
- F1 Baku weekend: city-wide compression — quote early or route around it.
- Shahdag ski: 4+ weeks for ski-in properties in January–February.

Gulf (Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait)
The core market. Muslim-majority country, halal standard everywhere, short flights, family-friendly mountain resorts. July–August Baku + Gabala is our most-quoted Azerbaijan programme. 5-star expectations are well served in Baku; set Gabala expectations at resort-4/5-star.
India
Fast-growing novelty destination — e-visa in about 3 working days, 5-night programmes at attractive price points versus Europe. Spring and autumn windows fit Indian holiday patterns; vegetarian dining needs are manageable in Baku with pre-arrangement.
UK & Europe
City-break and Caucasus-circuit interest. September's F1 weekend draws a premium crowd; May–June and September–October otherwise. Often combined with Georgia overland — we quote the Azerbaijan leg.
Japan
Niche but growing — architecture (Heydar Aliyev Centre) and Silk Road heritage angles. Documentation standards as per our Japanese market guide.
Gulf client asks for a cool summer break under 4 hours' flying with halal food everywhere? Azerbaijan answers it better than almost any alternative. Lead with Gabala, not Baku, in July–August.
